Getting Started

I took the time and went ahead and created a getting started page.  This will help when the first release comes out shortly.  This page contains information about using the basic parts of the engine but also contains information for more advanced usage.

Testbed Pre-Release

I went ahead and created a JNLP, Applet, and standalone JARs for the Testbed so that anyone interested can take a look. The applet version performs significantly slower than the JNLP/JAR versions. When running you may be asked to accept a certificate from me (I just self signed the JARs).

The "Funnel" test from the TestBed

All the releases require Java 1.6+. Be sure to type the “c” key to get the TestBed Control Panel so you can play with the simulator.

Use the Controls tab to view all the key board and mouse options. Use the Tests tab to run a test of your choosing. Use the Draw Options tab to set what is drawn to the screen. And finally, use the Simulation Settings tab to play with all the different settings allowed by the engine.

Google Code Project Created

It’s been a while in the making and not quite complete yet but I decided to go ahead and create a Google Code project for dyn4j, a new 100% Java collision detection and physics engine.

The current version is 0.1.0 indicating it’s not quite ready for use since some functionality is partially implemented.  There are only a few changes that need to be made for the first release version, 1.0.0.  If you would like to test drive the project you can download the code from the subversion repository.

See the about page for more information about how the project was started and plans for the future.

See the features page for a listing of all the features included and features planned to be included in future releases.

The Google Code project here will be the source repository and will also house any binary releases.

The current Javadocs can be found here.  More documentation is coming, including UML diagrams, tutorials, and Wiki pages.
